Hundreds of local nonprofit leaders gathered at the Grand Wayne Center in October to recognize outstanding nonprofit leaders. They were nominated by their peers for the Foellinger Foundation's Carl D. Rolfsen Stewardship Award. "The event was a way to show how much the community appreciates the work of nonprofit board members," said Foellinger Foundation President Cheryl Taylor. Love and learning flow between seniors and preschoolers at Children's Village Early Learning Center
What an idea. The center offers residents in Lutheran Homes' facility an increased sense of purpose, new companionship, and the joy of helping create the future of our community through their connections with children. The center fills a void that existed on the southeast side for child care, and many of the children come from families that are most in need. All of the parents work or attend school. This means the center, which uses a sliding fee scale to accommodate low-income parents, is helping families become more independent and self-reliant. Click here for complete story
