Dr. Michael J. Mastrangelo of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic received the Carl D. Rolfsen Stewardship Award due to his extraordinary work and innovative ideas. They were nominated by their peers for the Foellinger Foundation's Carl D. Rolfsen Stewardship Award. Love and learning flow between seniors and preschoolers at Children's Village  Early Learning Center

Nothing can surpass hugs, giggles and genuine love that children bring to elders. And it flows both ways, according to the people at Children's Village Early Learning Center, a child care center on the campus of Lutheran Homes that connects children with "grandmas" and "grandpas" providing them with love and individual attention.

What an idea. The center offers residents in Lutheran Homes' facility an increased sense of purpose, new companionship, and the joy of helping create the future of our community through their connections with children. The center fills a void that existed on the southeast side for child care, and many of the children come from families that are most in need. All of the parents work or attend school. This means the center, which uses a sliding fee scale to accommodate low-income parents, is helping families become more independent and self-reliant. Click here for complete story
