What We Fund What We Fund: Priorities The Foundation primarily is interested in: Early childhood development: specifically education and school readiness, quality child care and child care worker training. Youth development: specifically mentoring, out-of-school opportunities and youth worker training. Family development: specifically family services/family resource centers, parent enrichment, family literacy and intergenerational opportunities. Strengthening child- and family-serving organizations (restricted to project support that improves the organizational effectiveness of qualified nonprofit organizations whose mission is to serve Allen County children and their families). In helping children and their families become more self-reliant, the Foundation also may initiate: Research on select issues related to children and families. Independent evaluations to determine what’s working and what might be improved. Workshops, training, speakers. Foundation-directed efforts that involve youth- or family-serving organizations. The largest percent of the Foundation’s grant making will be directed toward its primary mission – children and their families.
