The Barbara Burt Innovative Leader Fund is a unique fund that:
Supports nonprofit board members who are pursuing unique learning experiences
Encourages innovative thinking to develop "adaptive leadership" skills
Promotes exchanges about leadership styles and practices within nonprofit organizations
Board members may:
Apply for individual Funds
Board members may apply to attend conferences, workshops, webinars or other events, traditional or nontraditional, that specifically benefit their organizations.
Attend a Seminar
In addition to providing opportunities for individual experiences, the Barbara Burt Innovative Leader Fund will educate and inspire leaders through valuable leadership seminars.
There is no cost to attendees attending the Barbara Burt Innovative Leader seminars.
Insights into Great Relationships
A strong working relationship between nonprofit board members and staff leadership is key to the long-term success of an organization from a program impact perspective and from a financial sustainability perspective. It is also critical that board leadership help guide the work of the board.
Allen County 501(c)(3) nonprofits that provide direct services are invited to participate in discussions exploring these working relationships.
Session 1: The Board Chair/CEO Partnership
September 26, 2019
11:30 am to 1:30 pm
Board chairs and CEOs are invited to attend. This session is facilitated by Bryan Orander, president of Charitable Advisors and a BoardSource-certified Governance Trainer. The session will focus on the board chair working with the CEO/staff and the attitudes, communications, and operational role of this critical relationship.
Session 2: Board Chair/Vice Chair Leadership
October 16, 2019
11:30 am to 1:30 pm
Board chairs and vice chairs, or other executive committee members, are invited to attend (maximum of two people per organization).
This session is facilitated by Ruth Purcell Jones, an independent nonprofit consultant with 25 years of building the capacity of organizations, individuals, boards, and teams. The session will focus on leading the board on matters of governance, strategic planning, team building and coaching.
Please note that it is intended that an organization send a two-person team to both sessions.
Each person should RSVP individually.
