Grant Impact

The Foellinger Foundation strengthens organizations that serve children and families in Allen County through grants and by offering leadership training, conferences, workshops and thought-leading speakers. The Foundation’s funding comes from lifetime gifts from the estates of Helene R. Foellinger, former publisher of The News-Sentinel, and her mother Esther A. Foellinger. The Foundation is one of the largest sources of grant funding for nonprofit organizations that support our economy and improve life in Allen County. It seeks impact in three primary categories:

  • Early Childhood Development
Children achieve developmental milestones; parents/providers engage in behaviors to support children's health and well-being.

  • Youth Development
Youth/parents engage in behaviors that promote positive social, emotional, and academic development and facilitate a successful transition to adulthood.

  • Family Development
Adults engage in behaviors that support themselves and their families moving from dependence to independence.

The Foundation expects every grantee to measure and report results and works hard to ensure that the level of reporting is appropriate for the size and scope of the grant.

Eligibility

The Foundation awards grants to Allen County nonprofit organizations that are exempt from paying federal taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and that are not private foundations. Please see our grant guidelines under the What We Fund tab for further information.
